In a world where millions of books are available, I suspect most authors would be happy just to know someone read their book. Knowing a reader didn’t just read their book but actually liked it would be the icing on the cake. Knowing a reader loved it…well, that would create some seriously warm and fuzzy feelings for an author.
There are plenty of haters out there who are more than willing to shred the project an author labored over for months, but you can fight back against the haters. Even if you don’t consider yourself a writer, you can still write a great book review. You can let an author know you loved his or her work and then spread that love by recommending the book to other readers.
Spread the love even further by posting your review in more than one place. Don’t stop with Amazon. Post your review on the Barnes & Noble website or on Goodreads. Who knows? Maybe you’ll even start your own book review blog.
If you’re not sure how to go about it, author and reviewer Lesley McDaniel has written a great how-to article. She even provides a template to get you started. It’s easier than you think to support your favorite authors, so why not show a little love today?
