Celebrating the Moment

OCW Cascade Writing ContestI wanted to share some good news with you. This last spring I entered the Cascade Writing Contest, and I recently learned that I’m one of three finalists in the Unpublished Young Adult category.

The winner won’t be announced until next month, but I don’t want to think about winning or losing at this point. I’m determined to simply celebrate the moment. Being a finalist means that the judges saw potential in my writing. It means that all my hard work—all that writing and rewriting and agonizing over every word—is paying off.

What moment are you celebrating today?

  1. I’m celebrating this wonderful recognition and potential rewards from all the hard agonization of words. Words have the most powerful intent of hurt or healing, anger or joy and pain or pleasure.

Think about what words you express to everyone everyday. Congratulations to a very good friend and wonderful writer who has used words and even silence of words that helped me during a very low point in my life.

  2. Congratulations, Kim! I’m so excited for you! You’re on your way!!!
Today I’m celebrating God’s goodness in granting me the realization of a lifelong dream. Today my debut YA novel, Running Lean, releases. So… a couple years ago I stood right where you are. I hope that in a couple years time you’ll be standing right where I am today! 🙂
