Kim Vandel graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology and worked in the field of environmental science before shifting her focus to writing.

Her novel Into the Fire won the Cascade Award for best unpublished young adult fiction. After publication, Into the Fire was a Realm Award finalist in both the young adult and debut categories and went on to win best debut.

Kim has taught workshops on speculative fiction and social media, and she currently serves as the social media coordinator for Northwest Christian Writers Association.

When she's not reading or writing, Kim enjoys traveling with her husband to find cute cafés and coffee shops and takes way too many pictures of food.
